If you want to write your life story but aren't sure where or how to begin,
then this workshop is perfect for you.
It's one of my most popular workshops, and this time, I'm hosting it in my own creative and inspirational space - my 'Writing Place' here in Arkles Bay, Whangaparaoa.
Everyone has a story to share— so what's yours?
Writing about our life can be a fascinating journey.
Life writing can help us gain insight into 'what makes us tick', the people, events and choices that have shaped and influenced our lives, and encourage exploration of the world around us.
Join me for a day of creative inspiration and start documenting your life stories.
The workshop is limited to a small group, and writers at any level of writing experience are welcome to participate.
The workshop
There is a growing demand for the writing of stories that speak to our 'lived experience', because the telling of our stories not only enriches and illuminates our own lives, but can also provide insight, guidance, understanding, and inspiration to others.
It's no surprise that life writing/memoir is one of the fastest growing and most popular genres in the world today.
Whether you're crafting family histories, aiming for publication, or writing just for yourself, this workshop offers creative and practical ways to capture your stories. You'll work within a supportive and small group under the guidance of an experienced facilitator.
There will be opportunities to share with the group but there is no pressure to do so.
In this workshop we will:
- write our stories using guided prompts and exercises,
- discuss permission, truth and allowing ourselves to tell the stories we want and need to tell,
- explore ways to get started with our writing and to keep going,
- look at the 'building blocks of story' (structure, plot, character, setting, theme, conflict)
- share stories as we write (but there is no pressure to share!).
What to bring:
your writing tools (pen and paper, laptop),
a drink and your lunch (tea and coffee provided).
This workshop is limited to a small number of participants so book early to secure your place.
